Alaa Alhashem

Alaa Alhashem is the managing director of the investment portfolio at Malaz Capital. He’s responsible for post-acquisition value creation processes, thus enabling the portfolio companies to outperform. Alaa leads the origination, deployment and portfolio management functions for the Saudi Small-Medium- Enterprises Fund. He guards the interests of the investors by playing an active role in the portfolio companies as non-executive director or shareholder representative. Alaa is also responsible for corporate planning from strategy, risk and strategic alliance perspectives. Before joining Malaz Capital Alaa has worked in consulting, real estate, investment and banking. Alaa is Chartered Director and Fellow of the Institute of Directors in London and serves in several boards as independent director. Alaa is MBA holder from the UK with a background in accounting and special emphasis on governance and strategy. He’s interested in sustainable development and the measurement of return on social investments.
