At the end, participants pitch in a Shark-tank-style format in front of a selection committee who vote for the top 6-8 startups that will go on to the program and receive $32,000 in seed investment, along with perks, office space and legal services.
The first month of the program is the Product Phase. The teams are encouraged to build and iterate their product focusing on several important factors demonstrated through training and coaching sessions. Some of the topics covered are Achieving Product Market Fit, UX/UI Fundamentals, and Monetization and Payments. This provides the startups with an array of information to help them with different aspects of product building, whether it be related to design or finding a suitable way to monetize.
The second month of the program is known as the Market Phase. This phase focuses on the different aspects of marketing and advertising through training and coaching sessions. Some of the topics covered include Growth Hacking, Building a Viable Marketing Strategy, and Digital Marketing Strategies. The main aim of this phase is to assist the startups in finding a suitable way to acquire and retain customers by identifying their customer’s needs and promoting their company accordingly.
The third month of the program is the Growth Phase. This phase walks the teams through data analytics and investor communications through training and coaching sessions. The topics covered in this phase include Financial Modeling, Strategy & Scalability, and Investor Communication & Market Sizing. The aim is to provide the startups with the information and knowledge to help them strategize and grow their businesses.
The fourth month of the program is reserved for pitch preparations. The startups are required to finalize their pitch presentations and write down their scripts in preparation for demo day. During the pitch practices, the startups receive feedback from the Flat6labs team, or in some cases an invited mentor. We also spend this time working on product and business development in preparation for the Demo Day.
Demo Days are designed for graduating startups to showcase their businesses post-acceleration and generate public hype and interest from potential investors. With our Digital Demo Day format, startups are able to receive global exposure as the pitches are pre-recorded and edited together to create a high-end production standard finish, which is then presented as a YouTube Premiere. The Demo Days are heavily promoted and generate thousands of viewers from several countries. A landing page is also created where the presenting startups’ information is readily available to interested investors.
Following the completion of Demo day, an investor mailshot containing the startups’ investor decks and contact details are sent out to Flat6Labs’ investor database. The investment team consistently works with the startups on securing follow-on investment and arranging meetings with VCs, Angel investors, and other sources of funding as well as aiding in their business development activities by looking for synergies within our partner network. All graduated startups will attend monthly meetings with the team to share updates, seek support and liaise on business development activities.
