Shipping companies are continuously facing challenges to reduce their shipping costs and time of delivery specially for international shipments. Zaagel solves this issue by providing a way that enables people to ask other people (the crowd) to deliver items for them faster and cheaper. Zaagel is a platform for crowdsourcing the purchasing and delivery of products where people can specify the products they want and ask travelers to buy and bring such products in return of a commission. We plan to make this platform also available for local brands and retail stores to enable their customers to order items online and ask other customers to bring such items for them.

XoneBee is a core technology startup specialized in offering next generation mobile telecommunication solutions. XoneBee creates a new type of communication network that can be viewed as a local area version of the cellular network but using short distance wireless communication standards, like Bluetooth, instead of GSM. This new network can be placed at any confined place with mobile traffic, e.g. shopping malls, university campuses, office buildings, hotels, airports, stadiums, clubs, etc.

Solarist presents innovative solar powered solutions that solve environmental problems like water scarcity. Solarist’s first product is a small-scale seawater reverse-osmosis unit with excellent energy efficiency. Recently, the system delivers up to 400 L/Hr of potable water, from seawater (at 40,000 ppm), while consuming less than 1100 Watt of electrical power. We are also working on developing it to deliver up to 1500 litre/hour. This represents a specific energy consumption of less than 3 kWh/m3. Moreover, the flow is controlled in order to reduce the power consumption. The most important feature is the energy recovery, and the use of a variable water recovery ratio by a controlled algorithm. The significance of the system is that it may be operated from variable intermittent renewable-energy sources, such as solar-photovoltaic. The PV is characterized by its high capital cost (per kW) and the variability of the energy that they are able to provide. Thus, in order to make PV-RO economically applicable, the pumps and RO membranes must offer excellent energy efficiency, and this is achieved by carrying out maintenance over a wide operating range.

Reform is an international award winning product design studio. Our goal is to design responsible products; products that benefit the environment, have a positive impact on the society and satisfy a user need. Our work ranges from public design, furniture design, sustainable design and usability. Currently our work is mainly in the furniture and textile design fields. Our philosophy is to design for a better quality of life. The feeling of responsibility towards serving our society and environment, gave us the motivation to start our first product, Plastex. The aim behind it is to solve a major problem in Egypt; Waste. Plastic bags are the second most wasted material in Egypt, every minute around one million single use plastic bag is given out for free, as the take up to a thousand years to degrade into a more harmful substances that poison soil, water and all living creatures. The focus of innovation lies in transforming the discarded wasted plastic bags into a new raw material that has environmental and economical benefits, through using feasible manufacturing techniques. And at the same time raising environmental awareness, reviving a traditional old craft (Handloom) and empowering local communities. Since we mastered the manufacturing process, now reform has his own running workshop with a small number of craftsmen that produces a daily work.
